POSITION DESCRIPTION

Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) is a diverse, dynamic, multiservice Indigenous health and wellness agency. We strive to provide quality, wholistic health services by sharing and promoting traditional and western health practices to enable people to live in a more balanced state of well-being. SOAHAC provides services to Indigenous people including those who live on and off reserve, status, non-status, Inuit, and Metis within the Southwest, Waterloo Wellington and Erie St Clair regions. SOAHAC has a mandate of ensuring that health services are accessible, of high quality, and are culturally appropriate. It is SOAHAC’s objective to build health care capacity within Indigenous communities. Currently, we are seeking the services of a Fund Development Manager to join our interdisciplinary staff team to work at our London Site.

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Operations, the Fund Development Manager is responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of SOAHAC. Their primary role is to lead in the development and execution of a mission-rooted and comprehensive fundraising strategy. The Fund Development Manager is responsible for the design and growth of the advancement and fund development team; planning, organizing, and executing fundraising campaigns and activities to secure financial support from donors, sponsors and grant-making organizations; cultivation and maintenance of relationships with potential stakeholders; and initiation of fundraising activities. Overall, the Fund Development Manager will play a critical role in supporting the fund development efforts of the organization, helping to generate financial resources needed to sustain and advance SOAHAC’s mission and programs.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Non-profit Management, Communications, Fund Development or related field or equivalent related education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising and/or fund development
  • Proven experience as a Fund Development/Fundraising Manager is preferred
  • Ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders across broad sectors, including health, government and Indigenous organizations
  • Ability to build successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Project management expertise is an asset
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and other related software
  • Ability to take initiative and make effective decisions in a timely manner
  • Organizational skills and time management skills
  • Ongoing willingness to learn Indigenous cultural competency and cultural traditions and practices
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license and insurance is required with ability to travel regularly within region and occasional provincial travel and/ or other SOAHAC sites as required
  • Clean and current police check as a condition of employment
  • Up-to-date immunizations and records.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate and maintain relationship with current and potential donors and supporters
  • Communicate the organization’s mission, goals and impact to donors and keep them engaged and informed about fundraising initiatives
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of fundraising campaigns and events included in alignment with the fundraising strategy
  • Develop fundraising materials, coordinate logistics and recruit volunteers to support fundraising
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations and other grant-making organizations
  • Research, initiate, and write grant proposals, grant applications and funding appeals to secure financial support for specific projects, programs or initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donors, donations, and fundraising activities using donor management software or databases in alignment with the fundraising strategy
  • Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgement of donations and gifts received, including sending thank you letters, tax receipts and other acknowledgement materials to donors
  • Implement stewardship strategies to recognize and retain donors and foster long-term relationships
  • Generate reports and analysis on fundraising activities, donor demographics and campaign performance to track progress towards fundraising goals, evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for continuous improvement
