Your Opportunity

Our Business Resilience Team is looking for a Senior Manager, Risk Advisory to join BDO’s national Risk Advisory Services team. As a Senior Manager, you will deliver high quality consulting services, with an all-hazard and integrated crisis management approach, covering risk analyses, emergency preparedness and response, business impact analysis and continuity, IT disaster recovery, crisis communication, training, testing & simulations.

Under the leadership of our leadership of our service line leads, you will contribute to the team business development activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and Implement Resilience Strategies:
    • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential threats to the organization's operations, including natural disasters, cyber-attacks, and other emergent challenges.
    • Create comprehensive business resilience strategies, ensuring the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and sustain operations during adverse conditions.
    • Assist with the development of methodologies, tools, and templates.
       
  • Establish Resilience Frameworks and Policies:
    • Design and establish resilient frameworks, policies, and procedures to guide the organization in handling crises, disasters, and disruptions effectively.
    • Ensure that business continuity plans are up-to-date and aligned with best practices and industry standards, incorporating lessons learned from previous incidents.
       
  • Client Management & Business Development:
    • Establish strong relationships with clients at all levels of experience, including leadership.
    • Execute a client service plan for complex engagements in close collaboration with partners.
    • Actively develop business opportunities and contribute to business development and sales initiatives as directed by partners.
    • Lead the development and delivery of strategic and operational solutions to harmonize client corporate requirements, objectives, and needs. Ensure successful project management and lead client engagements throughout the mandate.
    • Contribute to the growth and development of the practice by identifying potential clients, cultivating relationships, and participating in sales activities.
       
  • Mentorship & Coaching:
    • Work closely with consultants and ensure mandate delivery to clients
    • Act as a coach and mentor to team members to maximize their potential.
    • Take a leadership role in creating a working atmosphere that promotes learning and participate in group events and assist in the building of a team culture/environment.

Your experience and education

  • University diploma and preferably in risk and emergency management fields
  • A minimum of 5 years as a Manager with experience in the mentioned areas on top of a minimum of 5 year as practitioner in Business Resilience
  • A minimum of 5 years in one or a combination of the targeted industries – Energy & Natural Resources, Financial Services, Public Sector, Manufacturing & Distribution and Not-For-Profit and Real Estate
  • Experience in supporting a professional services firm in the development of an advisory practice, including preparing proposal, meeting prospective clients, and engaging in the sales process
  • Verifiable track record in the targeted industries including in building relationships
  • Professional designation (CBCP, CBCI)
  • Membership in risk management, emergency management and/or business continuity organizations
  • Knowledge of risk analysis, emergency preparedness and response and business continuity approaches, standards and regulations
  • Experience in anticipating and diagnosing problems that arise during projects, building and documenting solutions, drafting effective communications for clients, managing and coordinating projects.
  • Ability to contribute to the effective planning of assignments
  • Proven ability to deliver quality service and to meet client expectations;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively clients and prospect staff at all levels of the organization;
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset
  • Government of Canada security clearance or ability to qualify
