This will be achieved through advocacy, government relations, public affairs program and campaign development and execution. The successful incumbent will be required to regularly engage with governments, key aviation industry stakeholders, and other relevant stakeholders on public affairs issues of strategic importance to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA).As Manager, Government and Stakeholder Relations, you will:Develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with government officials and key public affairs influencers to enhance awareness, understanding and engagement in Toronto Pearson projectsDevelop strong working relationships with colleagues internally in various departmentsRepresent Toronto Pearson and community in government meetings, events, industry initiatives and working groupsSupport the Executive Team and members of the Board of Directors in stakeholder engagementStay informed of government agendas, priorities and activities, and potential impact to the GTAADevelop and implement coordinated public affairs strategies, issues management plans, and build advocacy coalitionsConduct stakeholder mapping to identify supporters and detractors, that will inform outreach plans and strategiesSeek input and support of internal functional groups in the development of these plans, strategies and campaigns to ensure alignment with corporate goals and other activitiesAssist departments with input for media, communication, noise management and community relationsPrepare briefing materials and discussion documents for Executive and Board on government and stakeholder issuesResearch and prepare briefing materials and submissions for elected and non-elected officialsContribute the development of digital and other online tools to support public affairs activitiesEngage with external government relations firms to advance filesDevelop, monitor and maintain logs, database, records, chronicling issues, actions taken and resultsTrack and report on corporate requirements under the various lobbyist registration regimesEstablish work plans to track progress and goals, and monitor costs and expensesConduct policy analysis to determine relevance to the GTAASupport reputation research to monitor effectiveness of programs and support annual planningCommits to and role models the GTAA Leadership Behaviours to support and further the business’ vision through the build and development of diverse, multi-skilled teamsThe salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.This is the role for you, if you have:Post-Secondary diploma in public affairs, government relations, communications or a similar field or relevant experienceMinimum 5 years’ experience in government relations, in a government/political office, or equivalent experienceMinimum 2 years’ experience in People Management directly or indirectly through cross-functional teamsIndustry experience in aviation, airline and transportation is considered an assetIndustry experience with land use planning and public transportation planning is considered an assetAbility to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the positionKnowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success:Understanding on how government policy is developed and how decisions are madeDemonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally in a unionized environment, as well as with external stakeholders and government to achieve resultsDemonstrated ability in building strategy and to think strategically about complex and multi-faceted issuesExcellent presentation, writing and project management skillsExcellent communication skills to effectively reach a broad audience of internal and external customers, guests and other key partnersStrong and proactive interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships and manage conflictAbility to work with diplomacy and tact and provide good judgmentStrong decision-making skills and the ability to influenceAbility to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office suiteThe GTAA is committed to Employment Equity and maintaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
