Position: Sales Account Manager in Events 

 

Supervisor:  National Director of Sales 

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a similar position or in the agency environment 

Status: Full-time (37.50 hours/week) 

Salary: Competitive salary based on professional experience, incentive plan and benefits 

Flexible working mode: Remote 

**Candidates must reside within the city mentioned for regular travel during events, when required** 

Start date: Immediate

Founded in 1982 by Jean-Paul de Lavison, JPdL has become one of the largest events and conference planning companies in Canada. Its expertise is based on three pillars of activity:  

  1. Management of corporate and association events and incentive trips for the Canadian market.  
  2. Design and management of incentive trips, seminars, learning expeditions and professional missions across Canada, adapted to the needs of European clients.  
  3. Design, management and logistics of conferences, congresses and symposiums at local, national and international levels.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Create sales opportunities through selling techniques with existing and new sales channels. This could include past and present clients along with new sales initiatives 
  • Prospect new opportunities from within our customer base, industry listings and beyond
  • Maintain relationships with existing clientele to ensure continuity and growth of business 
  • Sales process including: site visits, presentations, proposal creation and revisions    
  • Research and qualification of leads    
  • Build proposals targeted to the client’s request and designed to grow their needs    
  • Build interest in the destination of Vancouver to grow the need for our services    
  • Work towards clients’ prompt transition to the operations department    
  • Attend local industry events to nurture new and existing relationships     
  • Travel to tradeshows, industry events and sales trips to help build the brand and grow the business    
  • Communicate regularly and effectively to company senior management (National Director of Sales)    
  • Be a problem solver    
  • Exert a positive influence 
  • Think and articulate a “we / us” philosophy vs. an “I / you / they” approach
  • Cultivate a team atmosphere/attitude
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance our competitive edge  
  • Participate in industry events to further education, industry knowledge and networking  

 

Profile: 

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position or in the agency environment  
  • University degree or certificate in event management, project management, hotel management or other relevant training, marketing, communication, etc., an asset 
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently 
  • Knowledge of Canadian venues and attractions 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite (SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)  
  • Knowledge of FileMaker an asset 
  • Research and analytical skills 
  • Negotiation, communication, writing, and organization skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail  
  • A passion for continuous education on new product offerings including participation in supplier events and association networks 
  • Proven success in delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team  
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset
