Job Responsibilities: The Accounting Clerk will manage business accounts and ensure precise and timely processing of financial transactions. Additionally, they will provide administrative support to lawyers, paralegals, and accident benefits staff.
The main responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk include:
- Processing Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and disbursements, along with reconciliations and general day-to-day banking activities
- Remote disbursement posting
- Assisting with month-end reporting as required
- Maintaining accounting ledgers by posting account transactions
- Processing client settlements
- Docketing all tasks using Soluno
- Issuing trust and general cheques
- Closing client files
- Filing complaints with IPCO
- Providing assistance to team members regarding accounting-related matters
- Providing backup for others in the department as required
- ATE (After-the-Event) claim submissions
- Performing other duties as directed by management and/or the accounting team
Performance Targets:
- Processing client settlements promptly
- Filing complaints with IPCO on a weekly basis
- Paying invoices weekly
- Inputting data into Soluno weekly
Qualifications:
- Preferably at least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Pursuit of an Accounting designation is an asset
- Previous law firm experience is an asset
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Highly accurate with strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle highly confidential information
- Strong work ethic
- Excellent organization skills
- Effective time management
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
