Job Summary

The Engineer: Mining EIT will analyze drawings, designs, and specifications to prepare and maintain project management documents, including schedules, cost estimates, and tracking documents and reports. This role requires a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to ensuring compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Health and Safety**
    • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation.
    • Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department.
    • Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met by appropriate design and use of technology.
  • **Project Management**
    • Analyze drawings, designs, specifications, and tender documentation to prepare schedules, cost estimates, and other project management reports.
    • Schedule critical path activities for project.
    • Modify schedules and work plans to suit project managers' review.
    • Provide risk management and value engineering expertise in the development of mine plans.
  • **Continuous Improvement**
    • Implement and lead Cementation Continuous Improvement processes as prescribed.
    • Carry out associated tasks, data capture, performance analysis, lean meetings, software implementation and troubleshooting, action registers, and initiative execution.
  • **Technical Expertise**
    • Understand software and hardware needs for the group, including interoperability status of software.
    • Provide expert technical assistance during the execution of the mining works, providing procurement with technical information and support to ensure that Client and Project requirements are met.
  • **Project Close-Out**
    • Ensure that project close-out documentation is in compliance with regulatory, Client, and Cementation requirements.
  • **Customer Service**
    • Serve the customer by identifying customer needs and working diligently to solve problems/issues/concerns.
  • **Performance Metrics**
    • Implement and monitor performance metrics to gauge project efficiency and effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement.
  • **Team Collaboration**
    • Collaborate with the finance and project control departments to ensure project expenditures are tracked accurately, and procurement processes align with project timelines and budgets.
Requirements
  • **Education**
    • Engineering Degree from a recognized university or diploma from a college program relevant to the areas of responsibility.
  • **Experience**
    • 3-5 years of experience preferably in an underground environment.
    • Experience in underground development, construction, and shaft sinking, with experience analyzing performances and cycles.
  • **Certifications**
    • All certification required to represent Cementation in a safe and knowledgeable manner in the workplace.
  • **Skills**
    • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with internal clients, key business partners, and external clients.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • High level of confidentiality.
    • Able to work under time constraints, manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, and adhere to deadlines.
    • Knowledge of provincial and federal mining acts and regulations.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
