Civil / Mining Field Engineer - EIT

Join our team as a Civil / Mining Field Engineer - EIT and play a crucial role in supporting engineering activities, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of mining projects, and contributing to the overall success of mining operations.

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Design: Assist in the design of infrastructure, including roads, bridges, dams, borrow sources, crushing of granulars, and other constructions essential for mining operations.
  • Site Supervision: Oversee the construction and maintenance of civil structures within the mine, ensuring projects adhere to drawings, design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring that all construction matches pre-approved designs and maintains the highest quality standards.
  • Safety Management: Implement and monitor safety protocols to protect project personnel and equipment, addressing and mitigating hazards associated with civil engineering in a mining environment.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical advice regarding structural repairs and modifications, troubleshooting issues that arise during construction and operational phases.
  • Cost Management: Help manage costs by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain project documentation, including compliance reports, inspection findings, and construction logs, ensuring all necessary permits and legal documents are obtained and kept up to date.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, and mining staff to coordinate projects and ensure the optimal use of resources, maintaining a positive relationship with subcontractors and clients.
  • Sustainability and Environmental Protection: Design and implement strategies to minimize the environmental impact of mining operations, including erosion control and water management solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Civil or Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Designation: Preferred.
  • Experience: Civil engineering within the civil and/or mining industry or a similar industrial environment.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of construction methods, technical report writing, ability to read and understand engineered drawings and specifications, proficiency with CAD software and other engineering tools.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills, ability to work in a challenging and physically demanding environment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
