We are seeking an Electrical Estimator to join the team. As the Electrical Estimator, you will work within the team to prepare for, assemble and submit tender prices for various projects of all sizes and scope. The Estimator will be responsible to prepare, record and maintain pricing and assist the management team in the ongoing pursuit and acquisition of construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working within a team to perform quantity takeoffs including entry into a computerized estimating system.
  • Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment and subcontractor pricing.
  • Preparation, final review and submission documents to ensure all bid requirements are met.
  • Gather information for labor breakdowns for each area to assist with budget creation and management of project.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Attend and participate in site-visits, pre-bid meeting and post-bid meeting as required.
  • Participate in estimating turnover meetings with project team to assist planning and budget process.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing is received.
  • Collaborate and independently review project schematics to strategize on best approach for submissions.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in Electrical estimating, BAS Controls wiring, and Mechanical wiring required
  • Post-secondary diploma in electrical or construction technology, or other relevant technology field (CET or ENG considered an asset but not required)
  • Experience in an electrical contracting trade OR; Industry certification including "Certified Quantity Surveyor" and/or "Certified Construction Estimator"
  • Working knowledge of Autobid and Trimble or equivalent required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management and multi-tasking in order to prioritize workload and stay on top of things as project demands increase
  • Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged
  • Works effectively in team environment
