Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) Financial Leadership Role

Seeking a seasoned financial leader to oversee the IESO's financial operations, including financial reporting, treasury, and pension management, with a focus on strategic planning, risk management, and team leadership.

The IESO is a critical component of Ontario's power system, ensuring reliable and cost-effective electricity for the province. As a key member of the organization's leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping the company's financial direction and driving business success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the IESO's business objectives
  • Lead the financial reporting team to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and analysis
  • Manage the treasury function, including cash management, investments, and risk management
  • Oversee pension management, including investment, governance, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead a team of 18 staff members, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors to ensure financial information and analysis are provided to support decision-making
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance, or economics, with a postgraduate degree an asset
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role, with experience in public sector accounting an asset
  • Expert knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards and experience working with generally accepted accounting and financial principles and practices
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Rigorous analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems
