Job Summary

The Musqueam Indian Band is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Stewardship Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Stewardship Department, you will provide technical support to our Coordinators and Program Manager, and as directed, to other departments within the Title & Rights Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze referrals and proposed projects and plans to ensure alignment with our environmental stewardship goals.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support negotiations with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with our technical staff to engage leadership and community members in environmental and stewardship projects.
  • Assist in drafting agreements with external partners and other management plans or professional documents.
  • Prepare briefing notes, internal/external reports, summaries, discussion papers, factsheets, and other support-related material.
  • Implement environmental and stewardship plans to ensure alignment with other Musqueam initiatives and plans.
  • Organize community engagement sessions, including preparing presentation materials and newsletters.
  • Organize educational activities for Musqueam community, scholastic, and neighboring community groups.
  • Report on and plan environmental stewardship projects in coordination with other team members and/or departments.
Requirements
  • University degree in environmental sciences or a related field (urban planning and/or political science) and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of one year's experience in environmental management/policy/planning or similar, including experience working with committee and/or Council structures. Experience working for or with First Nations an asset.
  • Proven experience working in and with environmental legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous history, politics, and law in British Columbia; cultural competency and knowledge of Musqueam cultural traditions and interests is preferred.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Software, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills in presenting clear and concise findings for decision makers and writing a variety of proposals, policy, and procedure drafts, reports, and other documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, persuasion, and consensus-building skills with the ability to work under pressure and independently within a team environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to use tact and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and handle shifting priorities to produce results within deadlines.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Valid Driver's License.
