Executive Kitchen Manager

Lac La Ronge Indian Band is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Cook to join our Operations & Maintenance Department in La Ronge, SK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, managing food supplies, and supervising kitchen staff.
- Provide supervision to kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Collaborate with other staff members and participants in the harvesting, planting, and growing of the Greenhouse to produce fresh food.
- Plan food menus, introduce healthier eating habits, and detoxify food to promote the health and wellness of participants.
- Follow protocols for traditional foods, preparation of wild meats, and prepare food for feasts, elders, and ceremonies.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and maintain a high standard of safe kitchen environment to minimize health risks.
- Responsible for ordering food supplies, maintaining an optimal level of inventory, kitchen equipment, and ensuring efficient resource allocation and a cost-effective approach.
- Utilize analytical and practical costing methods to track and manage food expenses, ensuring all operations stay within the budget.
- Work closely with all staff to ensure special diets (allergies, religious) are being addressed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent Job-specific training.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Head Cook and in a supervisory role.
- College credits or relevant training courses in Hospitality & Food industry are preferred.
- Ability to use a computer efficiently.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- The ability to speak/understand Cree Language is considered an asset.
- A Saskatchewan Safe Food Handling Certificate is mandatory.
- Class 5 Driver License and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, & SGI Driver Abstract must be provided.
