Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Aide to join our team at St. Boniface Hospital. As a Health Care Aide, you will play a vital role in providing basic supportive care to patients, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.

About the Role: As a Health Care Aide, you will be responsible for assisting with patient care, providing emotional support, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to infection control protocols
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure effective patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide certificate program
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands
  • Ability to perform as a team member and seek assistance as necessary
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to interact well with others

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical health with the ability to lift and move heavy patients
  • Ability and willingness to work in stressful environments that may include aggressive and/or agitated individuals
