Job Description:
As a Health Care Aide at Riverview Health Centre, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the interdisciplinary healthcare team. You will work under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager and under the direction of the Registered Nurse to assist with patient care and provide basic supportive services as delegated.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient care and provide basic supportive services as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Provide rehabilitative, long-term care, or chronic care to patients as required.
- Assist with patient lifting, transferring, and mobilization using appropriate techniques.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regional, site, and work area policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Grade X education.
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized institution.
- 1 year previous experience in providing rehabilitative, long-term care, or chronic care to patients.
- Knowledge of basic nursing care principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and other relevant Workplace Safety and Health requirements.
- Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written formats.
- Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
- Ability to select and use appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients, or to other staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients, family members, and coworkers.
