Tactical Security Guard

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control access points to the shelter, ensuring only authorized individuals enter
  • Verify the identity of individuals seeking respite services and ensure compliance with shelter policies
  • Conduct regular patrols inside and around the shelter premises to deter and detect security risks
  • Use surveillance systems to monitor key areas and respond promptly to any unusual activities
  • Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, or security incidents within the shelter
  • Follow established protocols for various types of emergencies, including medical situations, conflicts, or security threats
  • Provide assistance and support to shelter clients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment
  • Assist in implementing shelter rules and regulations in a compassionate manner
  • Administer immediate first aid and emergency assistance to shelter clients in need
  • Coordinate with emergency services as required
  • Operate video surveillance equipment
Qualifications
  1. Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard license
  2. Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  4. Empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis
  5. Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
  6. A minimum of 2 years of experience in tactical security
  7. Any law-related educational degree or certification is an asset
  8. Previous experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset
  9. Physical fitness for regular patrols and emergency response
