We are seeking a qualified Instructor to teach substantive law courses in our Legal Assistant Program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the legal industry and experience in teaching at the post-secondary level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Course Development
  • Create engaging learning activities and assessments that promote active learner engagement and career-ready skills.
  • Cultivate inclusive learning environments and engage with students about their progress and success.
  • Champion current and innovative pedagogical practices, reflecting adult teaching methodologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support instructional and program quality improvement.
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Classroom Management
  • Manage and lead a safe, positive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment that allows students to express, share, and challenge ideas respectfully.
  • Present courses, lesson plans, lectures, assignments, evaluations, examinations, and learning activities.
  • Evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement.
  • Respond to academic integrity concerns and report to Academic Chair for follow-up as required.
  • Ensure learner accommodations are correctly applied for learners with disabilities.
  • Show personal interest in the learners.
  • Create a climate conducive to optimal learning.
  • Coordinate classroom delivery and assessments with faculty colleagues.
  • Refer students to institutional supports and campus services as required.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice to learners and potential learners.

  • Commitment to Professional Development and a continual learning culture.
Qualifications
  • Depth of knowledge and expertise in the legal industry, including experience in the relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of industry experience.
  • An aptitude for digital literacy.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, both written and oral, as well as well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Work well in a team environment, and be able to excel in a collaborative environment.
  • Previous teaching experience is required, experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.
  • A Law Degree is required, Master's Degree or higher is an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
