Job Summary

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will provide exceptional customer service and administrative support to our staff and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to our Human Resources team, including typing, filing, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Customer Service: Respond to inquiries and provide information to the public and other departments on matters requiring working knowledge of department procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Receptionist Duties: Act as receptionist for the work area by greeting, responding, and redirecting customers.
  • Office Operations: Process, check, and maintain a variety of office records, files, reports, statistics, documents, and related material.
  • Technology: Operate a variety of standard office software and equipment, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of Grade 12.
  • Experience: Six (6) months recent experience in a front-line customer service role.
  • Skills: 50 awpm typing speed, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, beginner proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to deal effectively and professionally with members of the public, other City staff, and elected officials, ability to represent the City and Department in a positive, professional manner.
