Job Opportunity: Economic Development and Tourism Manager

About the Role:

The City of Campbell River is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Economic Development and Tourism Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the economic development and tourism strategy, building strong relationships with Indigenous communities, and delivering programs to enhance economic activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the economic development and tourism strategy, including destination marketing and promotion using multiple mediums and digital platforms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, community associates, and develop opportunities for partnerships.
  • Deliver programs that enhance economic activity, including the development of departmental and corporate long-range plans, budget formulation, and reporting processes.
  • Promote and improve the effectiveness of City operations through collaboration, motivation, and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in economic development, commerce, marketing, public/business administration, tourism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' recent, progressively responsible experience in economic development, tourism, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' recent progressive supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Previous local government experience.
  • Experience working effectively with Indigenous communities.
