Job Summary:

LifeLabs is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a diverse range of laboratory tests and procedures, including manual and automated testing, to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Handle and process laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples, in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and automated analyzers, to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities, including calibration and maintenance of equipment, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of laboratory results.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance laboratory efficiency and productivity.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques, technologies, and best practices through ongoing education and training.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Registered Laboratory Assistant (OSMT) certification an asset.
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy equipment, as required.
