LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is looking for a dedicated and patient-focused individual to fill a dual position primarily as a Lab Patient Technician and secondarily as a Mobile Lab Patient Technician.

Covid-19 vaccinations and a booster shot are mandatory for this position.

Shifts for the Lab Patient Technician role may vary from Monday to Friday between 7 AM and 5:30 PM across multiple locations. Mobile shifts are available from 5:30 AM to 4 PM. Candidates must be flexible for last-minute call-ins and vacation coverage, with up to 20 hours of scheduled work per week.

Responsibilities of the Lab Patient Technician include:

  • Welcoming patients, gathering necessary information, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring adherence to test protocols.
  • Conducting phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting Holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
  • Executing special test collections, including medical/legal drug screens and paternity tests, while completing all relevant documentation.
  • Maintaining client relationships by responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Performing data entry for patient demographics and requisition information related to test processing.
  • Preparing specimens for transportation and analysis.

The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and the ability to manage stressful situations effectively. Key qualifications include:

  • Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Experience in phlebotomy.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

As a Mobile Lab Patient Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing on-site patient care in various settings, including private residences and healthcare facilities. This dynamic position allows you to build meaningful relationships with patients and positively impact their healthcare experiences.

Key responsibilities in the Mobile Lab Patient Technician role include:

  • Organizing daily visits to facilities and private homes for specimen collection based on physician requests, while planning routes for efficiency.
  • Performing phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting Holter monitors, and conducting ECG tracings.
  • Collecting and delivering specimens to designated laboratories for testing.
  • Accessioning, spinning, separating, and preparing specimens for transport as necessary.
  • Scheduling patient appointments, gathering required information, and ensuring compliance with specimen collection protocols.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals regarding patient issues, scheduling changes, and specimen collection procedures.
