About the Job

As a Staff Developer at Vendasta, you will be a cornerstone of our R&D efforts, steering our technology towards identifying and solving pivotal challenges. Your role involves diving deep into nebulous problems, scoping out solutions, and leading projects that span across our technological ecosystem. With a focus on both immediate and strategic impacts, you will work across teams to foster innovation, accelerate growth, and deliver exceptional value to our customers. Your leadership will not only influence our current projects but also set the direction for Vendasta's future innovations.

Your Impact

As a Staff Developer you'll work with our Team to:

  • Guide the team's technical trajectory, anticipating future growth areas and influencing strategic decisions that align with the organization's goals.
  • Build a high-performing team by delegating effectively, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement, and mentoring individuals to expand their skill sets and tackle complex problems.
  • Lead by example, driving the adoption of new technologies and fostering a culture of experimentation within the team, always looking for ways to improve processes and create impactful solutions.
  • Bridge the gap between engineering and business functions, ensuring smooth information flow and aligning the team's work with broader organizational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to drive alignment across teams, influencing technical decisions and facilitating collaboration to achieve strategic goals.
  • Proactively address potential challenges and roadblocks, adapting the team's approach as needed to ensure continuous progress and successful execution.
  • Inspire best practices; Set the bar for high-quality software development through exceptional code craftsmanship and adherence to best practices.
  • Champion the use of design patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and maintainable code practices to ensure scalability and long-term sustainability.

What You Bring to the Table

We are looking for a candidate who brings a combination of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership qualities:

  • A strong technical background with 8+ years of relevant professional experience with B2B SaaS experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, alternatively, at least five years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience or a robust understanding of developing high scalability, data-intensive, and distributed applications over the Internet.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages and technologies.
  • Proven experience in leading complex, cross-functional technical projects and initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring other engineers, leading cross-team projects, and driving design and technology decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve open-ended problems and drive outcomes in a technology-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence without authority and lead teams towards common goals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a track record of anticipating future challenges and aligning teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with cross-disciplinary teams to achieve outstanding results.
