Program Overview
Faster. Smarter. Safer. This is the commitment of Aecon Utilities in project delivery. Aecon Utilities aims to be the top utility construction provider in Canada. We are proud to offer women opportunities in the trades through practical training, mentorship, and field experience in our Utilities sector. Note: This is a proactive posting for upcoming recruitment when AWIT resumes in 2024

Locations: Various locations including GTA, Ottawa, SW Ontario & Northern Ontario supporting operational yards in our Utilities division.

AWIT Program Includes:

  • Hands-on Training and Orientation
  • Introduction to Aecon, our industry, and the Utilities sector
  • Essential health and safety training
  • Job-specific skills training
  • Preparation for on-site work and job readiness
  • Job placement in positions like Utility Labourer, Welder Apprentice, Damage Prevention Technician, and other applicable trades

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A safety-conscious mindset
  • Team player attitude
  • Physical strength and endurance
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to navigate rough terrain, stairs, and ladders
  • Willingness to work long hours in challenging weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license (G Class)
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Construction background is a plus
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
