We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services and health promotion services. We have recently been approved as the first Indigenous Lead Ontario Health Team by the Ministry of Health.

The Opportunity: Under the supervision of the Director of Mental Wellness and Minobimaadizing, the Mental Wellness Program Manager is responsible for directly supervising employees and manages all programs and services within the Adult Mental Wellness and Crisis Response Team programs. It is a position of leadership, requiring excellent interpersonal skills, communication, program planning and management expertise. The Mental Wellness Program Manager utilizes an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals who work in a collaborative model of care. The counselling and treatment model incorporates both western and (contemporary) and traditional counselling modalities. The Mental Wellness Program Manager works in close collaboration with the Senior Management Team to achieve Maamwesying's goals and objectives. Secondary responsibilities include working in collaboration with the Mental Wellness & Minobimaadizing Director in coordinating clinical and client protocols, standards, policies, procedures, and practices with Maamwesying and its' partnering agencies.

What you need to bring with you:

  • A University degree in business or health-related discipline, or a suitable combination of education and experience
  • A successful track record of five years work experience at the senior management level in health or public administration
  • Experience in a clinical environment providing Adult and Family Mental Wellness services
  • Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities
  • Knowledge of Maamwesying programs and services
  • Must have working knowledge and experience on First Nation mental health issues and First Nation culture, history, and issues
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative framework and policies reflecting current Mental Health and Addictions practice and delivery of services
  • Understanding of and ability to translate relevant legislation into Agency language, policies, and procedures
  • Understanding of evidence informed/evidence-based practices for promoting trauma, attachment, resilience and wellness-based mental health program services to adults and their families
  • Knowledge and experience of First Nation service delivery, customs, and traditions in responding to Adult Mental Health concerns
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A clear criminal reference check is a condition of employment.
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle and willing to travel regularly within the five communities and within the Maamwesying area.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
