Research Technician IV

Job Summary:
The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician IV to join our team in the Pathology Research Program. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for performing pathology testing for research purposes, including tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy of clinical and animal tissue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized staining histological staining
- Perform routine and specialized immunohistochemical staining
- Develop and optimize new antibodies for research purposes
- Perform in-situ hybridization
- Liaise with research and client services to ensure delivery of services
- Provide input on workflow optimization
- Provide insight on major equipment purchases
- Document results according to established procedures
- Maintain laboratory and laboratory equipment
- Liaise with external vendors and clients
- Coordinate and/or plan activities of other technicians
- Assist with financial and budget management
- May give presentations and seminars
- Subject matter expert for research protocols
- Subject matter expert for new test development and optimization
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, CMLTO certified Medical Laboratory Technologist and Master's Degree required
- 8 years related experience, or 10 years experience with Bachelor's Degree
- 6 years of recent histopathology research/clinical experience preferred
- 6 years of recent experience performing microtomy and cryosectioning preferred
- 6 years of recent experience with immunohistochemistry and molecular diagnostics techniques preferred
- 6 years of recent experience managing laboratory safety and quality assurance preferred
