The Mount Stephen is a Montreal boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown, in the Golden Square Mile district. This luxurious hotel accommodates up to 400 people; in 85 rooms and/or 5 prestigious suites. Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Manager is responsible for the revenue generated in the market segments assigned to him or her. The successful candidate will be expected to meet or exceed a set of specific financial goals by increasing contribution from existing accounts, developing new sources of business and expanding reach within its segments so that the hotel achieves its goals. The Sales Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive strategic action plan aimed at actively increasing market share.
Responsibilities:
- Research markets and potential customers with the goal of continually increasing the hotel's customer list based on assigned markets.
- Solicit, develop and increase assigned market segments.
- Build strong business relationships with key industry contacts and trade organizations.
- Strategically structure prices for each market segment.
- Prepare or have prepared sales contracts.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows and networking events
- Use sales software for customer database and follow-ups.
Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of the tourism and hotel industry.
- In-depth understanding of the various market segments
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of hospitality experience, including 2 year of sales experience.
- Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment.
- Knowledge of PMS such as Hotello
- Strong sales, negotiation, presentation, and business writing skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Ability to communicate perfectly in English and French
- Comfortable in person, on the phone and via email
