The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to support emergency management, community health, and risk reduction initiatives in the Northwest Territories.

The successful candidate will provide project administration, build relationships with local organizations, and coordinate community engagement activities. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing community outreach strategies, recruiting and training volunteers, and facilitating partnerships with local communities.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, experience working with Indigenous communities, and proficiency in a primary Indigenous language. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as cultural competency and sensitivity to Indigenous traditions, are essential.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of local and federal resources available to Indigenous communities and be able to adapt to various community settings. Flexibility and ability to work independently are also required.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will work in a home office environment and in-person community engagement environment, with a requirement to travel to remote communities and work non-traditional hours. The successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment screening process, including a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check.

The official languages recognized within the Canadian Red Cross are English and French, although demonstrated skills and ability to communicate in an Indigenous language or adapt within Indigenous protocol are highly desirable.
