Job Summary

The Student Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in delivering, initiating, and supporting multiple programs throughout the year. This position requires a great deal of flexibility, creativity, and ability to multi-task. Priorities will shift depending on programming needs and the time of year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creation, Implementation and Delivery - 50%
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for students or staff, as needed
  • Meet with students individually, or in groups, as needed
  • Lead and/or support in coordination, set up, and take down for events, programming, and activities
  • Recruit, train and mentor student and staff volunteers
  • Lead and/or support the creation, implementation, and delivery of programs or activities, as assigned.
  • Ensure that assigned programs, activities, and tasks are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Promotions, Communications, Networking, and Marketing - 20%
  • Meet and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Update SAIT's website, intranet, with current Student Engagement program information
  • Promote programs through online and in-person information sessions
  • Host pop-up promotional booths on campus
  • Work with SAIT's Communications department to promote Student Engagement activities and programs through SAIT's social media channels, internal communications to staff and students
  • Working with XDOCS to design and print promotional collateral
  • Data, Assessment, and Reporting - 15%
  • Track attendance and satisfaction reports
  • Develop and deliver on learning outcomes for each program and evaluate for continuous improvement through surveys and other assessments
  • Maintain accurate record keeping for reporting purposes (annual reports)
  • Research and Benchmarking - 15%
  • Keep current on recent trends, best practices, and new developments relating to assigned programs
  • Increase understanding of the academic theories (student retention theory, student development, student leadership, etc.) guiding student engagement programming by researching scholarly research
  • Communicate with equivalent positions in other post-secondary institutions to compare, share, and improve programs and practices
  • Join communities of practice or participate in forums for professional development
  • Benchmark SAIT's success against other similar post-secondary institutions
Qualifications and Experience
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree (multiple diplomas may be considered)
  • 2-5 years' experience planning, coordinating, and managing events and multiple projects in a post-secondary institution
  • Must be able to travel and have the appropriate identification and travel documentation
  • Availability to coordinate and deliver programming on evenings and weekends as needed
  • Solid research skills and an ability to convert research into programming
  • Strong written English skills
  • Experience with MS Office including comfort with form creation and database management
