Pathology Summer Associate

Join our team as a Pathology Summer Associate and contribute to the development of innovative solutions in plant pathology.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Wage: $22 - $30 / hour

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pathology Summer Associate. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects related to plant pathology, including seed preparation, disease nursery plot maintenance, and plant pathology lab tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in seed preparation and seeding disease of nurseries in the field.
  • Contribute to disease nursery plot maintenance and care, including pest control and disease ratings.
  • Support the execution of Plant Pathology Lab tasks, including fungal isolations and culturing.
  • Assist in Greenhouse and Growth chamber seeding, maintenance, and rating of disease projects.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic and passionate team with expertise in agronomy and plant pathology.
  • Contribute to creating a safe working environment for the team.
Requirements
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.
  • Strong agronomic competence, preferably attained through a degree in Agriculture or a related field, along with experience in the Agriculture Industry.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Familiarity with plant sciences, canola development, and plant pathology, or a strong interest in these areas.
  • Experience working with plants in field and/or greenhouse environments is an asset.
