Counsellor Hummingbird Program Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our Hummingbird Program team. As a Counsellor, you will provide crisis counselling and support to callers on our various crisis lines services, including the sexual assault crisis line. You will also provide in-person support to individuals who have experienced sexual and intimate partner violence within an interdisciplinary model at Klinic Community Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis counselling and support to callers on our crisis lines services
- Provide in-person support to individuals who have experienced sexual and intimate partner violence
- Mentor new volunteer advocates in the Hummingbird program
- Assess caller needs and risk
- Chart appropriately according to Klinic procedures and documentation guidelines
- Participate in training courses and in-services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in order to maintain and improve quality of service
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Participate in program planning, evaluation and quality monitoring including completing daily statistics
- Participate in formal self-evaluations by identifying strengths and limitations
- Seek appropriate supervision/consultation of own actions
- Adhere to all agency policies, protocols and promotes best practice
Requirements:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry checks
- Completion of ASIST training
- Completion of Crisis Worker Certification Exam within one year of hire
- Ability to work days, evenings and weekends
