Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Specialist to provide regulatory and compliance support services to all CNL sites and external customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Regulatory Affairs Manager and staff members, setting up various meetings, and managing day-to-day activities for the Regulatory Affairs branch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Regulatory Affairs Manager and staff members, including setting up meetings, travel arrangements, and document preparation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and General Nuclear Safety and Control Regulations.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Prepare and submit reports on financial activities, regulatory actions, and other relevant information.
  • Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in databases and filing systems.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with regulators, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
  • Training and Development: Complete training as required for annual staff appraisal and mandatory requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory, including the preparation of shipping and purchasing documentation.
  • Document Preparation: Organize, prioritize, assemble, edit, and format documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Financial Management: Track financial data, including expenses against budget, and report on variances.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Liaise with CNSC staff regarding site license fee activities and other regulatory matters.
  • Event Planning: Coordinate site visits, including security clearances, escorts, access, transportation, and catering.
  • TRAK/ATOM Support: Assist CNL staff with TRAK/ATOM queries.
  • Secure File Transfer: Provide services to CNL staff for distribution of documents through the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) server.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Provide oversight to regulatory commitments and review outgoing/incoming correspondence.
  • Website Management: Manage the Regulatory Affairs myCNL website and SharePoint site.
  • Student Support: Oversee the work of and/or train student branch members to ensure continuity and consistency of work.
  • Backup Support: Provide backup support to other sections or similar roles within the same section.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent knowledge earned through a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience: Experience with Regulatory Affairs, communicating with regulators, and knowledge of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and General Nuclear Safety and Control Regulations.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to comprehend or be cognizant of a broad range of technological and/or business issues; knowledge of CNL's practices, procedures, and organization; ability to work under pressure and with conflicting priorities; good understanding of programs and facilities at CNL; good knowledge of Regulatory Documents, Management System document hierarchy, and CSA standards pertaining to CNL; computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CNL internal applications such as ATOM, ActionWay, and SharePoint; proficiency in both written and oral communication; and previous work in the nuclear sector is considered an asset.
  • Security Clearance: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom.
