Director of Life Enrichment Director of Life Enrichment

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a compassionate and energetic individual to join our team as Director of Life Enrichment at our Cornwall, ON location.

About the Role

This is a temporary, full-time position reporting to the Executive Director. As a Director of Life Enrichment, you will be responsible for creating a vibrant and engaging environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and promote the Residents' Bill of Rights
  • Develop and implement programs and schedules that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents
  • Participate in budget preparation and maintain departmental budgets and supplies
  • Research and gather information on available grants and community resources
  • Conduct timely and individualized resident assessments and create resident profiles
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in communicating with residents and planning individualized programs
  • Supervise and motivate recreation staff, evaluating their performance to ensure high-quality service
  • Plan and coordinate in-service education programs for staff
  • Communicate departmental activities to residents, staff, families, and the community
  • Coordinate the volunteer program, including recruiting, orientating, and evaluating volunteers
  • Facilitate Residents' Council activities in accordance with legislative requirements
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field
  • Experience in long-term care, developing and leading programs for residents with varied physical and cognitive abilities
  • Experience with PCC and Activity Pro would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to relate to them in a professional manner
  • Commitment to ongoing education to meet resident needs and legislative requirements
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of technology, including programming for virtual or remote communications
