Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs that promote the Residents' Bill of Rights and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents.
  • Collaborate with staff to create engaging and inclusive activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities.
  • Manage departmental budgets and supplies, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Research and identify community resources to support resident needs and interests.
  • Conduct timely and individualized resident assessments to inform program development.
  • Foster a culture of respect and inclusivity, promoting cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
  • Supervise and motivate recreation staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality programming.
  • Communicate program activities and updates to residents, staff, families, and the community.
  • Coordinate volunteer programs, recruiting and orienting volunteers to support resident engagement.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
  • Experience in long-term care, developing and leading programs for residents with varied physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to collaborate with external partners.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with technology, including virtual communication platforms.
