Director of Life Enrichment Job Description

Join our team at Southbridge Care Homes as a Director of Life Enrichment, responsible for creating engaging programs and activities for residents in our Long-Term Care Homes and Retirement Homes.

About the Role

As a Director of Life Enrichment, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents. You will work closely with our team to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters a sense of community and connection among residents.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs that promote the Residents' Bill of Rights
  • Create engaging schedules and activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities
  • Manage departmental budgets and supplies, and participate in budget preparation
  • Research and gather information on available grants and community resources
  • Conduct timely and individualized resident assessments and create resident profiles
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding in communicating with residents and planning programs
  • Select, supervise, and motivate recreation staff, and evaluate their performance
  • Plan in-services and encourage staff participation in education programs
  • Communicate department activities to residents, staff, families, and the community
  • Coordinate volunteer programs and supervise volunteer coordinators
  • Facilitate Residents' Council activities in accordance with legislative requirements
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or related field
  • Experience in long-term care, developing and leading programs for residents with varied physical and cognitive abilities
  • Experience with PCC and Activity Pro software an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to relate to them in a professional manner
  • Commitment to ongoing education to meet resident needs and legislative requirements
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of technology, including virtual and remote communication tools
