Job Description

Project Manager - New Sudbury Facility

Key performance areas

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading a timely and within budget completion of the Real Estate Project in according to Sandvik and Sandvik Mining standards, Project Model and Guidelines with a high focus on environment Health, Safety and compliance. This includes execution of project, namely the overall coordination of scope, business requirements and project deliverables as well as the Design and Construction coordination with the consultants, developer and other parties engaged in the projects.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Define and secure the conformance of the detailed governance model for the project
  • Manage and secure the timely delivery and quality of the design input from stakeholders.
  • Represent Sandvik Mining towards all external parties involved in the project in cooperation with the relevant procurement expertise. Take the lead in the Project, call for, chair and document all meetings, follow up on agreed actions with all parties.
  • Monthly Project Reporting to the Project Steering Group (PSG), including cost follow up and forecasting.
  • Organize, chair and document the SG-meetings and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Secures good stakeholder management during te project execution.
  • Develop a detailed Project Specification based on the investment approval and detailed stakeholder input, including project organization and time schedule for the project, and secure the PSG approval before project execution.
  • Identify and document project risks in a Risk Register. Secure continuous risk mitigation actions throughout the Project Execution and reporting of risks and risk mitigation actions to the PSG.
  • Responsibility for coordination of inspections and acceptance tests.
  • Maintain accuracy and currency of project documentation and schedules. Document control and Database Management.
  • Plans the move and ramp-up in the new location and secures support and training for the organization in this process.
  • Support the organization in the preparation and execution of the divestment of the existing facility.
  • Project closure (including appropriate final documentation), training and hand over to local Sandvik Mining organization.

Your profile

  • Technical University degree and at least 10 years of relevant Project Management experience in a large international company OR more than 15 years of Project Management experience in a large international company, good technical skills and experience in facility development projects.
  • Solid leadership skills, an assertive way of working and a strong drive are required to deliver the project within the set targets.
  • Result oriented and open minded with the ability to motivate and coordinate people within a large and complex global organization
  • Experience and high focus on current EHS practices and legislation.
  • PMI or Prince2 certified project managers are preferred.
  • Good understanding of the permitting process and knowledge of local construction law are qualifying
  • Good experience with controlling budget, planning and reporting
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Relevant project experience should be reflected on a reference list with short description of the persons role, the size of the project and description of the main risks and challenges.
