HSE Lead

Join our team as a HSE Lead and play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and stakeholders. As a collaborative team player, you will be responsible for coordinating field and office activities, administering the Safety Program, and driving the strategic objectives of our company.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead monthly corporate safety meetings and OHS Committee meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Develop and prepare HSE reference materials for site personnel, including Safety Meetings and Toolbox Talks, to promote a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Audit completed safety documentation on BIS Safety / SafeTapp to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Verify personnel training and set up training as needed to ensure employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely.
  • Maintain and update the company training matrix to ensure it remains current and effective.
  • Conduct weekly site inspections on all active sites to identify potential hazards and take corrective action.
  • Follow up on incident reporting and lead the incident investigation process to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage subcontractor prequalification and ensure documentation of all subcontractor requirements related to health and safety.
  • Complete safety orientations for new hires and new projects to ensure they understand our safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all HSE statistics and reports on a weekly and monthly basis for performance reviews and to maintain the company's HSE statistics.
  • Update all online safety sites and corporate statistics for bidding on a quarterly basis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of project HSE plans and documentation required prior to kick-off.
  • Ensure all physical safety documentation is current and distributed to sites at project start.
  • Participate in the annual review of the corporate HSE program to ensure it remains effective and aligned with company objectives.
  • Act as a resource for all field personnel to provide guidance and support on safety-related matters.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of field safety experience, preferably in heavy civil construction.
  • Excellent mentorship ability to lead by example and promote a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of how to develop a positive safety culture and promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to travel to sites in and around Saskatoon.
