The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Supervisor to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key member of our HSE team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and visitors, while also promoting a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the HSE Manager in the development and implementation of the plant's Occupational Health and Safety Program and Environmental program.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to employees and supervisors on health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and maintain safety procedures, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
  • Provide support and guidance to supervisors and employees on health and safety-related issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to health and safety.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a health and safety role.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
  • Computer proficiency in email and spreadsheets, with the ability to learn new software and systems.
