Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dalhousie University.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and a strong research background in Earth surface processes. They will be expected to develop and maintain a research program that focuses on terrestrial natural hazards, including but not limited to, wildfire, stream flooding, intraplate tectonics, tsunamis, sea-level change, glacial lake outburst floods, permafrost thawing, mass wasting, coastal erosion, and anthropogenic geohazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a research program that focuses on terrestrial natural hazards
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Earth surface processes and related fields
  • Supervise graduate students and provide mentorship
  • Contribute to departmental and university service
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Strong research background in Earth surface processes
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain a research program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with geospatial analysis and remote sensing
  • Previous academic or professional experience
