Job Title: Assistant Professor of Visual Neuroscience

We are seeking an exceptional scientist to join our interdepartmental Retina and Optic Nerve Research Group as an Assistant Professor of Visual Neuroscience. This tenure-stream appointment will be held jointly in the Department of Medical Neuroscience (80%) and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (20%). The successful candidate will have a strong research background in visual neuroscience and a demonstrated ability to develop an extramurally funded research program.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead an independent research program in visual neuroscience, with a focus on retinal circuitry, cell biology, or physiology.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and administrative activities at the departmental and faculty levels.
  • Participate in the training of ophthalmology residents and fellows.
  • Collaborate with clinical research groups in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences to develop translational research efforts.
Requirements:
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Demonstrated research excellence in visual neuroscience.
  • Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching.
