This is an exciting time and a great opportunity for the right person to join our team as HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST (Field Operations).

Job Summary :

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, and as first point of contact to field operations employees, t he Human Resources Generalist , Field Operations is responsible for communicating , deploying , and reinforcing company HR polices, pr actices, procedures and initiatives. The position requires knowledge and application of HR principles and practices , personnel administration, effective oral and written communication and listening skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively handl e confidential informatio n. The position also requires the ability to promote an active workplace culture where people feel a sense of belonging and inclusion w ith an equal ability to engage in difficult workplace conversations and decision making . Additional responsibilities include assisting with recruit ment, retention and engagement of ONroute plaza roles, coaching managers on employee relations ma tters, and e nsuring timely and accurate administration of HR records while maintain ing compliance with company and provincial guidelines .

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Responds to human resources-related inquiries as first point of contact for field teams.
  • Collaborates with field operations and human resources teams to develop, execute and maintain effective recruitment strategies and appropriate metrics including future staffing needs and trends
  • I nteract s with operations manag ers and employees in order to proactively and reactive address human resources -r elated matters
  • Provides personnel policy and procedure guidance to operations managers and employees and helps ensure compliance
  • Provides guidance to operations managers on employee coaching, discipline and terminations of basic to moderate complexity, elevating to senior leadership as directed
  • Prioritizes complaints regarding o f workplace harassment and assists in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions , elevating such complaints as required
  • A ssist s with the timely collection and presentation of facts and supporting documentation associated with legislative and legal challenges brought against ONroute
  • Assists with benefits and payroll enrolments, changes, processing and discrepancies in partnership with third-party providers
  • Assists with attendance management including occupational and non-occupational related absences in partnership with operations managers, third -party providers and government agencies
  • Maintains talent management, development , performance appraisal and other employee life-cycle processes
  • Monitors employee morale and company culture and reports on findings
  • Timely and a ccurately maintains employee personnel records (HRIS)
  • Proactively maintains up-to-date knowledge of provincial employment law and compliance requirements
  • Proactively maintains up-to-date knowledge of business operations, SOPs, workforce management trends and provides input on workflow and process improvements
  • Assists with employee surveys, analysis, action planning and execution
  • Actively participates in field, team and company meetings and events
  • Assists with creation and delivery of SOPs, training programs, policy changes, and communications
  • Performs general administrative functions and other needed duties as required by the business

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

  • College or university degr ee in human resources or related discipline
  • 2-4 years of human resources generalist experience , preferably in a multi-unit restaurant orretail environment
  • A bility to verbally communicate, read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates and confidently engage in difficult conversations
  • Requires leadership and self-motivating work skills to be part of a diverse work team under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple work projects and priorities as well as work effectively in HR, Operations and cross-functional work teams
  • Ability to support and respond to the needs of a 24-hour day, 7 day per week work environment that may require occasional evenings and weekend support on limited notice
  • Passion for the industry and the people and customers that drive it
  • Requires strong knowledge of HR technical subjects; proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce HRMS
  • CHRP or working towards CHRL designation is considered an asset
  • C omputer literate ( e.g. MS Office, HRIS ) with proven ability to prepar e documents, spreadsheets and presentations
  • Ability to set up a suitable home office work environment to perform telecommuting work as required for our hybrid-work structure.
  • Must have a reliable and accessible vehicle for all driving season and conditions and a valid driver license is good standing to travel to ONroute plazas, the Resource Centre and attend company m eetings and other functions across Ontario, as required.
