Senior Advisor, Regulatory Research
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Advisor, Regulatory Research to join our team. As a key member of our Regulatory Research and Analysis department, you will play a critical role in leading the development of IESO's strategic positions on regulatory matters, providing regulatory research and support to internal teams, and representing the IESO in regulatory forums.
About the Role
- Lead the development of IESO's strategic positions on regulatory matters, including cross-cutting topics such as gas-electricity coordination and the future role of local distribution companies.
- Provide regulatory research and support to internal teams, including the development of IESO submissions for regulatory proceedings and policy initiatives.
- Represent the IESO in regulatory forums, including the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), the National Energy Board (NEB), and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory institutions, industry stakeholders, and other key partners.
- Conduct analyses and assessments of regulatory developments, market trends, and industry best practices.
- Provide thought leadership and expertise on regulatory matters, including the development of policy briefs, research papers, and other materials.
About the Ideal Candidate
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as law, economics, or engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in regulatory affairs, including experience in the electricity sector.
- Strong knowledge of power system fundamentals, economics, and corporate financial policies.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
