About the Role:

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Program Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of students, working collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their educational needs, including toileting, personal care, and use of assistive technology
  • Assist with behaviour management, including implementation and tracking of behaviour targets, de-escalation strategies, and pro-social and conflict resolution skills
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform light lifting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform medium lifting
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution (an asset)
