The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Program Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of students, working closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including those with Down's Syndrome and Autism.
- Assist with daily routines, such as toileting and personal care, and implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as behavior management, crisis intervention, and communication strategies.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture by promoting social skills, empathy, and respect for diversity.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform light lifting tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
