Freedom of Information Assistant

Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented team player to administer and respond to Freedom of Information access to records and routine release requests.
The Township of Esquimalt, located on the traditional territory of the lək̓wəŋən Peoples, is a vibrant and diverse community with a population of over 17,000. We are committed to building strong relationships with our neighbouring First Nations and providing exceptional services to our community.
We are looking for a team player who can confidently and professionally work with diverse clientele within established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have three years of sound related experience in a local government or other government environment and at least one year of post-secondary courses in Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy, records management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will have:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Administering and responding to Freedom of Information access to records and routine release requests
- Providing advice on information and privacy matters
- Drafting Privacy Impact Assessments and Information Sharing Agreements
- Providing professional support to the corporate records management program
Salary: $33.59 – $36.19 hourly plus benefits
Hours per week: 35
