Security Guard position at a downtown Toronto location, requiring a strong customer service focus and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

As a Security Guard, you will be responsible for maintaining a highly visible and reassuring presence at the Property, ensuring the safety and security of tenants, guests, and employees. You will be committed to delivering exceptional customer service, actively seeking out opportunities to provide visible customer assistance and support.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to enhance the customer experience
  • Ensure compliance with standards, rules, and regulations at the Property
  • Perform highly visible patrols of assigned areas and engage with tenants, guests, and employees
  • Approach guests or visitors to offer directions or general assistance
  • Work closely with other departments to provide customer service support
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of activities and special events at the Property
  • Assist visitors and guests with specific problems, such as safety concerns or requests for directions
  • Protect the Property and maintain a safe and welcoming environment
  • Enforce rules and regulations in a fair and responsible manner
  • Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee and program
  • Report and follow up on hazards and/or deficiencies identified during duty
  • Observe and report criminal activity to the police and assist as necessary
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support
  • Prepare written reports using the standard report-writing program
  • Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons in a fair and safe manner
  • Remain prepared to respond to crime, disturbances, and emergency situations
  • Facilitate access to restricted areas for authorized persons
  • Control vehicle traffic on the Property
Requirements
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent people and customer service skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent discretion and decision-making skills
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealings with diverse settings and situations
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable in dealing with diverse situations and people
  • Team player
  • Completion of grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Prior work experience in a customer service environment
  • Previous experience working as a security guard (or equivalent)

Prerequisites
  1. A valid Ontario Security Guard License
  2. Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification (WSIB Approved)
  3. Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  4. Vulnerable Sector Check
  5. Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
