Senior Shelter Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Shelter Manager to join our team at Uquutaq Society. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our shelter sites, including collaborating with our Transitional Housing, Food Services, and Facilities teams to provide meals, environment, and services that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of a shelter site, ensuring that services meet the needs of clients.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of our Men's Homeless Shelter Program and Transitional Housing Program, ensuring that outcomes and deliverables meet the requirements of contracts and contribution agreements.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and produce regular reports and forecasts.
  • Resolve and report on issues, seek out and suggest improvements, and solicit feedback from clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that client health issues are monitored and addressed, and support Client Service Workers in delivering individual client service.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and update programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Oversee and monitor all aspects of program financial administration, including managing, monitoring, and reporting on program budgets and variances.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience providing support to homeless, marginalized, and/or Indigenous populations.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and territorial legislation, including labour standards, privacy, and residential tenancies.
  • Understanding and knowledge of treatment and supports for individuals with complex social and health needs.
  • Understanding of the oppression and marginalization of the homeless, including an understanding of the effects of colonialization on the health and well-being of Indigenous people.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively build relationships.
  • Collaborative and constructive, with the ability to thrive in a cross-functional team and diverse cultural environment.
  • Results-oriented, creative problem-solver able to provide practical advice and guidance and proactively reach solutions to issues.
  • Superior organizational skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to meet tight timelines and deliver timely results that are on-budget.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and social media platforms.
  • Up-to-date certifications in First Aid/CPR, Food Safe, WHIMIS, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, and Health & Safety Supervisor, or the ability to quickly acquire them.
  • Familiarity with Inuit or Indigenous culture is preferred.
