Power Estimator

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong safety culture for employees, vendors, and customers. Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Support the Estimating Manager, estimating peers, and Proposal Supervisors during the tendering phase of projects.
- Develop accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates and new project setup documents, including bids, construction management, design builds, cost estimates, and control budgets.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to ensure project feasibility.
- Create request for quotes or subcontractor proposal requests documents and evaluate responses for the highest-ranking submission.
- Attend site walkthroughs and project proposal site meetings to assess geotechnical conditions, draft risk matrices, and complete RFI's required for proposal responses.
- Assist in creating preliminary budgets for successful tender projects and any change order pricing.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Minimum 3 years of experience estimating overhead or underground power transmission & distribution, and substation projects in Canada.
- A post-secondary degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, ASCT, Business, or a Journeyman Trade Certification in combination with experience in a related field is an asset.
- Experience and skilled in negotiating.
- Valid driver's license for the type(s) of vehicles driven, with an acceptable driving record as determined by the DOT Operations Director and Michels Legal Department.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Bluebeam, and Adobe, with estimating proficiency preferred using HCSS Estimating Software.
- Organized written communication skills.
- Experienced in reading plans and specifications for Power Transmission and Distribution projects.
