What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:

  • Plan and coordinate the development, execution, and evaluation of all existing event-based programming and new initiatives, ensuring successful events.
  • Implement and maintain all material and content for existing events and initiatives, including preparing revenue/expenditure estimates.
  • Create, plan, direct, implement, and evaluate innovative redesign opportunities for existing events to generate increased exposure, attract more visitors, and increase revenues.
  • Coordinate regular, on-call, and student staff deployment for events, as well as event volunteers and partner support.
  • Provide expertise and support by conducting research to support program initiatives, including developing new revenue products and events.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing Department to develop and implement a communication strategy and plan to market existing and new events and outreach opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a broad network of community and business contacts to assist Huronia Historical Parks in achieving its goals.
  • Regularly liaise with Ministry staff and other OPS staff on collaborative efforts to extend events and attractions to other areas of the province and to new target groups.
  • Contribute to the business development strategies by evaluating organizational effectiveness/success of existing programs and providing input and recommendations on program-related business plans.
  • Investigate, make recommendations, and assist with drafting contractual agreements and financial terms between HHP and its event partners and service providers, while ensuring that budget allocation is not exceeded.
  • Be required to work weekend and/or evening shifts. Hours are commonly 36.25 hours per week but may fluctuate based on the timing of special events, programs and seasonal demands. Work schedules are set in advance of the workweek.
How do I qualify?MandatoryYou must have a minimum of a valid driver's license class "G" or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.

Event Planning and

Project Management Skills:
You can demonstrate an ability to:

  • design and execute large-scale public events, utilizing best practices for effective planning and implementation
  • manage multiple concurrent projects from inception to completion within specified timelines and budgets
  • supervise diverse teams including staff, volunteers, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless event execution
Communications Planning and Marketing Skills:
You can demonstrate:

  • an ability to develop comprehensive communication strategies and plans to promote special events, partnerships, and promotional activities
  • an ability to craft and edit a variety of communication materials such as media content, web materials, and contractual documents
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to create professional presentations and documents
  • an ability to learn and understand trends and dynamics within the tourism, leisure, and entertainment sectors, to leverage insights to enhance event programming
  • an ability to interpret market trends and customer survey data, driving strategies to maximize event attendance and revenue generation
Analytical and Evaluative Skills:
You can demonstrate:

  • analytical skills to develop compelling business cases and assess the effectiveness of project initiatives
  • an ability to conduct historical research to support both existing and new event programming initiatives
  • an ability to evaluate event outcomes against objectives, and prepare detailed reports on achievements and return on investment

  • an ability to resolve complex issues promptly to ensure seamless event operations and project success
  • effective listening skills to understand and address objections and feedback from stakeholders, incorporating insights into event planning and execution
