Rehabilitation Assistant required to work under the direction of a professional nurse or therapist, implementing treatment plans and assisting with patient progress.

About the Job

As a Rehabilitation Assistant, you will work in a dynamic team environment, providing support to patients and families in a variety of settings. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with the implementation of treatment plans, under the direction of a professional nurse or therapist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan under the direction of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
  • Assist with patient progress through observation and reporting to appropriate team members.
  • Provide input into the planning, implementation, modification, and evaluation of treatment plans.
  • Perform various tests as assigned by PT or OT, such as Berg Balance, Timed Up and Go (TUG), and six-minute walk test.
  • Prepare and apply therapeutic treatment modalities as assigned by PT or OT, such as transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS), neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), hot packs, ice, and wax treatments.
  • Provide functional skills training to patients and families in activities of daily living, mobility, and communication.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
