Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide routine instruction to patients on activities of daily living, including toileting, transfers, dressing/undressing, and bathing.
  2. Carry out established recreation participation programs, such as crafts and bingo, and maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
  3. Prepare and apply treatment modalities, such as ice, heat, and whirlpool, and supervise established exercise programs.
  4. Provide direction to volunteers during recreation, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy programs.
  5. Assist with or conduct group activities established by physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or recreation therapy.
  6. Report patient performance and response in programs to the appropriate therapist.
  7. Prepare equipment for use by therapists and maintain inventory of equipment, devices, and materials.
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to organize work and manage time effectively.
