Job Summary



We are seeking a skilled Day Program Recreation Worker
for our Adult Day Program. The ideal candidate will have experience in
providing social and recreational activities for seniors and adults with
healthcare needs. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play
a key role in delivering established programs and supporting clients with
their daily needs.

Responsibilities

* Plan and implement a variety of social and recreational activities
including mental aerobics, music, cooking, and special events
* Stimulate clients' interests through discussion groups, speakers, and
magazines
* Teach new skills of daily living, including safety in the home
* Report activities of daily living (ADL) to the Nurse and observe clients
during activities
* Communicate concerns and/or client difficulties to the Nurse
* Assist clients with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, hygiene, eating,
toileting, and ambulation
* Demonstrate the appropriate use of equipment such as mechanical lifts,
wheelchairs, and walkers
* Assist clients with their belongings upon arrival and departure from
the program
* Assist clients with meal selection, meal setup, and feeding
* Collect lunch trolleys from the kitchen or designated area and serve
lunch to clients
* Return meal trays to the designated area
* Perform nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse, respiration,
and weight
* Obtain urine and stool samples as required
* Participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to
quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

* Grade 12, plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant
program, completion of recognized recreation courses, and one year recent
related experience
* Current Food Safe I certificate
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
* Ability to deal with others effectively
* Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
* Ability to teach
* Ability to organize work
* Ability to operate related equipment
