The Opportunity
The Centre for Innovation and Research in Advanced Manufacturing and Materials (CIRAMM) is ARIS' newest centre dedicated to advanced research in the areas of manufacturing, materials, and computer modeling. CIRAMM is currently in search for a motivated laboratory technician. Below is a summary of the job description and required qualifications. Applicants need to submit their CVs along with a cover letter. Those who are short listed will be contacted for an interview.
The work requires the application of technical knowledge or skills, learned on the job, in performing simple tests, preparing simple media and using simple scientific equipment. Procedures are standard and after initial training, work is performed independently with new or unusual situations being referred for advice and direction. The Role
  • Design, build, and test simple prototypes
  • Assists in the preparation for laboratory tests and procedures
  • Design and build simple laboratory apparatuses
  • Maintain and repair laboratory equipment
  • Maintains an inventory of materials
  • Assists in documenting project phases and creating summary reports
  • Works with field personnel to handle project issues as they arise
  • Writes and edits scientific publications and reports
  • Prepares research grants
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Post secondary degree with relevant research experience
  • Can work independently while being a team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of project coordination concepts
